IMPERIAL, Calif. - August 5, 2014 - A/V Production Assistant Hecmar Jayam Gomez was included in the the 2014 Comic-Con International Souvenir Book with his illustration of Hellboy, a well known comic book character celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year.
“It’s an honor to be included,” said Gomez. “I’m just a fan of art and comics. I enjoy illustration and don’t expect anything when I submit, but this is actually my third illustration in a Comic-Con souvenir book.”
Gomez, who attended his first Comic-Con in 1999, also had two illustrations in last year’s program. In 2012, he had a Star Wars Fan Film short animation recognized as a finalist.
Gomez joined the Conveyor Group team in August 2013, as a video production and audio editing assistant. He’s also heavily experienced in motion graphics, art and illustration.
“We have a very creative team,” said Aaron Popejoy, creative director of Conveyor Group. “We’re pleased to see Hecmar be included, he’s very talented and it means a lot to see his name in this legendary program.”
Gomez’ rendition of Hellboy can be seen on page 182 of the program within the article Am I Mortal? You are now, 20 years of Hellboy and Counting. When asked if he was excited to hear he would be included he said, “Well, it is interesting. You don’t get notified. It’s not until the convention and you receive the program that you know you are in. When you see it, you look around and see thousands of people with the book in their hands and hope they don’t see any mistakes in your work.”
